Slow Horses — Episode 4, Visiting Hours Review

That Escalated Quickly

By Mark

With the death of the guy in the house Jackson Lamb, Gary Oldman (“ Darkest Hour”, “ Killers Anonymous”), River Cartwright, Jack Lowden (“ Fighting with My Family”, “ Dunkirk”), Min Harper, Dustin Demri-Burns (“The Great (TV)”, “Britannia (TV)”), and Louisa Guy, Rosalind Eleazar (“ The Personal History of David Copperfield “, “Uncle Vanya”), exit sharpish.

Lamb takes all their mobiles from them and puts them into the drains, says they can be tracked. He tells the trio to get the others and meet him at the place, they all seem to know where that is. Cartwright goes to get Roddy Ho, Christopher Chung (“Waterloo Road (TV)”, “Secret Santa (Short)”), Min and Louisa go for Struan Loy, Paul Higgins (“Line of Duty (TV)”, “Raised by Wolves (TV)”).

We learn that the man whose head was cut off was a spook, one of them, his name was Alan Black / Moe, Sam Hazeldine (“ Killers Anonymous”, “The Last Duel”), somehow Curly, Brian Vernel (“ Dunkirk “, “The Last Kingdom (TV)”), knew this, he says from talking to ‘Simmonds’.

Curly, Zeppo, Stephen Walters (“Silent Witness (TV)”, “Shetland (TV)”), and Larry, David Walmsley (“Peterloo”, “The Terror (TV)”), are in a transit van with Hassan Ahmed, Antonio Aakeel (“ Tomb Raider “, “Eaten by Lions”), in the back.

Diana Taverner, Kristin Scott Thomas (“ Tomb Raider”, “ Darkest Hour “), is told about Black’s death and that Lamb etc are nowhere to be found. She decides Lamb’s gone rogue and tells her lap-dog Nick Duffy, Chris Reilly (“Wrath of Man”, “Devils (TV)”), to find him and his crew.

Struan is caught before Min and Louisa can get to him. They head to the meeting place. Cartwright gets Ho but, stupidly, heads to the hospital to see Sid Baker, Olivia Cooke (“ Naked Singularity”, “ Sound of Metal “), and is caught on CCTV, a lapdog is sent to get him.

James ‘Spider’ Webb, Freddie Fox (“The Crown (TV)”, “White House Farm (TV)”), is with Duffy and they find Lamb on CCTV. They find he’s bought lots of plane tickets to Istanbul, from every airport in the country. Eventually the catch up to him whilst he’s getting Catherine Standish, Saskia Reeves (“Us (TV)”, “Belgravia (TV)”).

Taverner has Struan in a cell and is basically trying to get him to frame Lamb with the promise of getting him out of Slough House and back into Regents Park. At first he isn’t interested, until she says she’ll tell his family the truth about him, as he hasn’t.

Zeppo and Larry want to let Hassan go but Curly has other ideas, he wants to go through with it and they don’t seem strong enough to stop him, even though it appears that this ‘Simmonds’ is no longer part of what they’re doing.
Standish pulls the gun from her bag that Lamb had hidden in there. They take over the car and kick Spider and Duffy out, head on their way to the meeting place.

An interesting episode of Slough Horses, the whole season has completely flipped on its head in an instant, not something I was expecting and I’m not totally sure how I feel about it at the moment. Are we going to be in for a few spooks managing to get away from the entire rest of the MI5? I hope not.
